ABIGAIL, NABAL AND DAVID
In her series on familiar (or not so familiar) Bible stories, Pastor Laura today told us of a very smart lady,
Abigail, her foolish husband, Nabal, and an episode in the life of King David. A story of a good woman
cleaning up a messy situation caused by an act of foolish pride and selfishness, turned into a beautiful
love story and all comes out well for the ‘good guys’ in the end! David had his troubles with the women
in his life, but Abigail was one of his best encounters. Lessons from the sermon: Don’t hold back – act
quickly in danger – God’s power within us is grater than we can imagine – be humble, hospitable, and
speak up to make peace – our actions are powerful – (and) God is with you, you are never alone!
BLESSING IN THE NEW YEAR – Now that the holidays are over and we are going back to school and
work, why not make you New Year’s Resolution to be faithful in your church attendance in 2023?

OFFERING OF SELF AND SUBSTANCE
Malachi 3:10-12
“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says
the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much
blessing that there will not be room enough to store it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops,
and the vines in your fields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the Lord Almighty. “Then all
the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the Lord Almighty.
Send your offerings to the Treasurer, Sandra Albarracin at 18715 Yocam Avenue, Lutz, FL 33459, or
directly to Bank of America by using: ccpctreasurer19501@gmail.com
When we give generously and sacrificially, it’s not because God needs anything, but because we want to
show our love for him. Giving is an expression of obedience, yes, but also of gratitude, trust, and
increasing joy. God seeks out and recognizes those who worship him.
